Does my list go to a server?

No. The whole check happens on your device, national numbers too. That is why the bulk check does not ask VIES: that would send your whole customer list out. Do that number by number in the VAT tool.

What does valid mean?

That the number is well formed: the length and the check digits are right. Whether an account exists or a company is active, this check does not say.

How many lines can I paste?

Up to 5000 lines at a time. The table shows the first 300; the CSV holds them all.
