Form Z-07

Peppol ID

Since 1 January 2026, Belgian VAT-registered businesses send each other structured e-invoices via Peppol. Here you make a business’s Peppol address and check whether it can already be reached.

Local, and only online when you ask

Explanation

Peppol ID in three steps

  1. Enter the enterprise number

Or the VAT number, or a Peppol ID you already have. Zegel checks the check digits.

  2. See the Peppol ID

For a Belgian business that’s 0208 followed by the ten digits of the enterprise number.

  3. Check the registration

On your click, Zegel asks the Peppol address book (SML) and the company’s service which documents it can receive.

Good to know

  • Does my business need to be on Peppol?

Since 1 January 2026, VAT-registered businesses in Belgium must exchange invoices with each other as structured e-invoices, via the Peppol network. If you only work for private individuals, you still need to be able to receive e-invoices. Read the details at FPS Finance.

  • What does 0208 mean?

It’s the code for the Belgian enterprise number in the international list of identification schemes. An older form is 9925 with the VAT number; some businesses are still registered that way.

  • What does registered on Peppol mean?

Zegel asks the SML, the address book the Peppol network itself uses to deliver invoices, and then the company’s service (SMP) which documents it accepts. If an ID is not there, a Peppol invoice does not arrive today. The Peppol Directory is only a voluntary business card.
